前 言
匈牙利中央银行(MNB) 推广艺术的努力符合其社会责任战略,根据该战略,中央银行认为展示和支持匈牙利艺术是其义不容辞的责任。
作为这一使命的一部分,并根据国际中央银行的惯例,在最近建立了一个不断扩大的艺术收藏馆,目前已收藏了一千多件战后和当代的艺术品。这些藏品装饰着布达佩斯中央银行所在的著名建筑,这些都是典型的历史古建。与此同时,匈牙利中央银行艺术与文化中心负责藏品的维护和管理,定期举办藏品展览。

Preface
The efforts of the Central Bank of Hungary (Magyar Nemzeti Bank, MNB) to promote art correspond to its social responsibility strategy, according to which it considers it its duty to present and support Hungarian art. As part of this mission, and in line with international central bank practice, it has recently established a continuously expanding art collection, which now contains more than a thousand post-war and contemporary artworks. The items in the collection adorn the prestigious buildings used by the Central Bank in Budapest, which are typically historic buildings. At the same time, MNB Arts and Culture, the division responsible for the care and management of the collection, regularly organises exhibitions of its material.
We believe that the international profile and visibility of Hungarian artists should match the high quality of their work. Therefore, one of our main goals is to provide a regional and global platform for the artists of the collection. Howev-er, our aim is not simply to provide visibility, but to contribute to the ever-expanding international dialogue on art and culture. The silkscreen printing technique originally started in China. Thus, our present exhibition, which focuses on the members of the Pesti Workshop, who were engaged in silkscreen printing between 1971 and 1988 and formed a defining artistic community of the era, is in this sense site-specific. Several important works by all its members - Imre Bak, János Fajo, Tamás Hencze, Ilona Keserü, András Mengyán and István Náder are in our collection.
This exhibition is special for us for further reasons. As our motto suggests, our mission is to build cultural bridges. Our projects aim to connect the art world with the public, the bank as an institution with the art community, and the Hungarian art scene with its global context. This is in line with the Pesti Workshop's agenda of the democratization of culture and its educational role in contemporary art.
Furthermore, since the screen prints were easy to transport, they were regularly submitted to international graphics biennials, which raised (public) awareness of Hungarian art from beyond the Iron Curtain. Today, several decades later, we are proud that alongside the screen prints we can show several large-scale canvases and present them to Chinese and global audiences.
We are delighted to collaborate in this exhibition with the Chongqing Art Museum and would like to thank the Chongqing Art Museum for providing us with the opportunity to exhibit in their venue.
